11.12.2009 - Paper published in the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collabortive Learning
A journal paper by Larusson & Alterman titled Wikis to support the "collaborative" part of collaborative learning was recently published in the fourth issue (volume four) of the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collabortive Learning.
This paper makes the case that the standard wiki has several properties that are particularly amenable for constructing applications that support the collaborative part of a variety and range of different time/different place student collaborations. The paper can be accessed at the journal's website at Springer.
7.21.2009 - Presentation at CogSci 2009 in Amsterdam
A paper by Alterman & Larusson called Modeling participation within a community will be presented by Dr. Alterman at CogSci 2009 in Amsterdam (July 2009) and will appear in the CogSci proceedings. The paper develops a model and quantitative measures of the participation of students engaged in a semester long co-blogging activity on a wiki developed using the WikiDesignPlatform.
2.24.2009 - Presentation at CHI 2009 in Boston
A paper by Larusson & Alterman called Visualizing student activity in a wiki-mediated co-blogging exercise will be presented at Chi 2009 in Boston (April 2009) and will appear in the CHI proceedings. This paper describes our most recent efforts in developing visualizations that extract information about the kinds of activities users partake in while collaborating vis-a-vis a wiki.
5.15.2008 - WikiPlayer presentation
Johann Larusson will participate in the "tool section" at the 2008 ICLS workshop "A Common Framework for CSCL Interaction Analysis" where he will demo the WikiPlayer.
3.1.2008 - Presentation at ICLS 2008
We will be participating in the Supporting and Tracking Collective Cognition in Wikis symposium at ICLS 2008 held at the University of Utrecht in The Netherlands this June. We will give a talk around our paper "Wiki technology for collaborative learning" which examines how our wiki-based learning platform, WDP, and the WikiPlayer can be used to support a wide range of collaborative learning activities.
11.1.2007 - New website launched
We have now launched a new project website for the WikiPlayer. In the next few weeks we will make the source code and binary of the tool available.
7.1.2007 - Paper published on the WikiPlayer
Tracking online collaborative work as representational practice: Analysis and tool. This paper was presented at C&T 2007. It is published in Steinfield, C., Pentland, B.,Ackerman, M., and Contractor, N. (Eds) Communities and Technologies 2007 Springer-Verlag.
